"Old school" este cuvantul operativ aici: in cele 39 de minute ale albumului avem parte de toate riffurile, liniile de bas, solouri ritmuri de tobe caracteristice genului si avand in vedere faptul ca varsta medie a muzicienilor este doar 23 de ani, nivelul de executie este foarte impresionant. Fiecare membru isi face datoria ca la carte, readucand in primplan soundul binecunoscut al unor trupe precum Slayer sau Testament.<br /><br />Desi abordarea nu este noua productia insa este excelenta si facuta cu profesionalism in conditiile in care trupa inca nu a semnat cu nici o casa de discuri, albumul putand fi cumparat direct de pe situl lor (oare cesta va fi viitorul industiriei?). Poate ca vocea nu o sa multumeasca pe multa lume, fiind lispita de multe ori de profunzime, insa chiar si asa se potriveste foarte bine cu stilul, si trebuie sa acord puncte bonus pentru temporizarea versurilor cu instrumentalul, care oricum face deliciul albumului.<br /><br />O trupa care promite multe, si care va trebuie urmarita in continuare.<br /><br />Track Listing:<br />1. Ce suge defapt, sa imi scuzati limbajul, este scenariul. Filmul este o ecranizare a seriei anime Blood+, o productie destul de interesanta, serie bazata la randul sau pe un film anime. Totusi inafara de numele personajului principal Saya(un fel de Blade feminin nipon), filmul nu prea are mai nimic in comun cu seria anime, in alte cuvinte este vorba de o incercare nereusita de a atrage comunitatile fani anime intr-o vizionare ce nu are prea multe de oferit nica ca poveste nici ca experienta vizuala.<br />Povestea filmului sare de la un ala alta, accentul fiind pus pe scenele de lupta, pline de sange digital unde bampirii cad mormane peste mormane sub sabia de samaurai Sayei. De cateva ori cand am pus pe pause, am avut impresia ca am deralat din greseala, atat de segmentat e filmul.<br />In afara de o scena foarte buna de lupta cu un mos samurai impotriva unei mici armate de ninjas cu palariute la moda in secolul XVI, filmul nu prea mai spune nimic, decat ca ai facut bine ca l-ai luat de pe net ca toti prietenii tai.<br />Asa ca nu va pierdeti timpul cu el, nici macar fanilor nu il recomand. Mare parte din album s-ar putea gasi foarte bine pe soundtrak-ul unui film horror mai artsy deoarce reuseste sa creeze tot felul de peisaje sonice spectrale, atat de necesare unui astfel de album. Stilul vocal al lui Antti Flippu mi-a lasat un gust amar laolata cu abordarea neoriginala a unui gen ce este supra solicitat. Renuntand la Filppu la scurt timp, trupa a realizat in 2007 <b><i>Stuck Here On Snake’s Way</i></b>, inainte de a ne oferi ultimul lor efort muzical, <b><i>The Redshift</i></b>, un album extrem de antrenant si captivant. Jukka Pelkonen se afla acum in pozitia de frontman iar stilul sau se potriveste mult mai bine cu sound-ul Omnium Gatherum. De asemnea, relevant pentru acest album este amestecul de melodic cu pasage intunecate, gandti-va la o combinatie intre Amorphis si Dark Tranquillity, cereuseste sa dea un aer de prospetime death metalului melodic interpretat de ei. His satirical verses attack the avarice andirreligious behavior of the Franks of the Holy Land, they deplore Pope Gregory IX’s hostility to Frederick II, they express Freidank’s disquiet over Frederick’s negotiated truce with al-Kamil, the Ayyubid sultan of Egypt, but despite all misgivings they assert the continuing validity of pilgrimage and crusade. In no time at all they’ve gobbled<br />so much treasure that I’m amazed it doesn’t burst out<br />of the houses.<br />Since Acre won’t relent, it’s better to be sheared than<br />skinned: if you get away with your hide intact, you can sing<br />for joy.<br />Acre is rich in diseases, death is quite at home there, and<br />if thousands died there every day, you’d hear nobody<br />lamenting for long.<br />The first question they ask when someone’s died is, “Sir,<br />where’s his money?” (And that’s the last word of mourning.<br />God send us a speedy end!)<br />If anyone doesn’t want to live long, I advise him to hurry<br />off to Acre.<br />There’s no difference between the Christians and the<br />heathen in Acre: all the crusaders’ might won’t disturb their<br />friendly alliance. Young and old all speak the heathen<br />tongue. They prefer the company of one heathen to two or<br />three Christians. So it’s no wonder that they’re treacherous.<br />In Acre I’m well acquainted with the food, the climate,<br />people and land: all are bad news to Germans. So many a<br />man slips away to the graveyard—there’s a friendly landlord<br />who’s never stuck for guests; he does his best to greet<br />all strangers. Acre is the pit of death, where there’s naught<br />but death and disease; and a dead donkey would be<br />mourned more in other places than a hundred thousand<br />who die there.<br />In Acre they live corrupt lives: if the pope has imposed<br />that on them as penance for their sins, then even Judas has<br />hope of salvation.<br />In Acre the citizens are treacherous: an army of a hundred<br />thousand will be more quickly sold there than ten oxen anywhere<br />else.<br />The business they are up to in Jaffa is a good bargain for<br />the heathen, but it won’t help against the Christians who are<br />in league with the heathen. The allies of this land are showing<br />how far they can be trusted, and if it were up to them,<br />the talks at Jaffa would not be happening.<br />We were given the cross to protect against sin and to free<br />the Holy Sepulchre. Now the church wants to ban us from<br />doing that. So how shall we save our souls now?<br />No ban has more force in God’s eyes than is justified by<br />a man’s guilt. Obedience is only valid if the master acts justly;<br />if the master forces a man to desert God and do wrong, then<br />you must leave the master and cleave to what is right.<br />Though whether the church’s ban is wrong or right, it is to<br />be feared, that’s true.<br />It would be fitting if the emperor put a stop to the whispering<br />he and the Sultan have been carrying on. Can that lead<br />to a happy and honorable end without God’s help? It’s a strange matter, and fools don’t believe it—I hear wise folk<br />too say they’ll only believe it when they see it.<br />Mr. Mean and Mr. Stingy were supposed to share three<br />marks: Mean wanted the bigger half, Stingy wouldn’t give<br />up. The two misers still haven’t settled their quarrel. That’s<br />just how the emperor and the sultan are behaving.<br />When did an emperor ever go on a crusade banned by the<br />pope and without the princes’ support? And now he’s<br />reached a land where neither God nor man ever found a loyal<br />friend. And without treasure to help him he’s met much<br />opposition—may God settle it.<br />I don’t care how, so long as I glimpse the Holy Sepulchre:<br />then I’d return to Acre, stuff myself full of good food, and be<br />happy to board the first ship I found. I deplore all that’s ever<br />been told of this land, whether it was true or false; they’ve<br />enticed many a band of crusaders here.<br />I’d gladly go back over the sea and send another army<br />here—but I never want to return myself, because of the<br />treachery that goes on here.<br />What can an emperor achieve when heathen and clerics<br />alike fight against him? Solomon’s wisdom would be inadequate<br />there. Treachery is a birthright in this land, and the<br />natives have sworn to reinforce it with false counsel. Treachery,<br />arrogance, and enmity never run short in Syria. If the<br />emperor’s might is demonstrated here, all lands will fear<br />him; his honor will either soar or sink to the depths through<br />what happens here.<br />Whatever the emperor achieves here without sufficient<br />support, the help and cunning of the locals will be pitted<br />against him, so far as they dare.<br />Many an army has come to Acre, and all, I’ve been told,<br />perished without achieving honorable victory. The pope’s<br />ban and the cunning tricks of many Christians here wanted<br />to thwart us of success. Now God has won his own honor.<br />He was able to ensure without their help that sinners shall<br />see the Holy Sepulchre.<br />God and the emperor have freed that tomb and brought<br />comfort to all Christians. Since the emperor has done the best<br />he ever could, he should be released from the ban—but I<br />guess those in Rome don’t want that. If something good happens<br />without their consent, they don’t wish it to endure—<br />and now it’s happened against their wishes. All sinners agree<br />that no one should breach the peace treaty. Rome could do<br />us no greater honor than to affirm that too. Those who must<br />live and survive in this land, they did not want to be given it<br />back. What if a miracle happens and their arrogance is taken<br />way from them? Treachery will come to their rescue.<br />God has liberated the city that is the joy of our faith. What<br />more do sinners need but the Holy Sepulchre and the honor<br />of the cross? If those who tried to cheat him of his honor had<br />stood by the emperor, the Sepulchre and all this land would<br />have been in his hands: Nazareth and Bethlehem, the Jordan<br />and Jerusalem, and many a holy place where God’s own feet<br />trod, Syria and Judaea, many a fair land besides. The roads<br />all lie open before us that lead to the holy places.<br />It grieves the false hearted that the emperor did not let so<br />many armies be betrayed that would have perished defenseless<br />here. If a lord has men, might, and wealth and gives<br />these for God’s cause, it is a grievous sin when anyone gives<br />treacherous counsel.<br />A ban has no force if it is imposed out of enmity; a ban<br />that harms the faith can do no good. Acre has banned kettle<br />and frying pan, boiled meat and roast; may God provide for<br />us! The masters of our faith rant and rave. Lord God, where<br />shall we praise you, since we are banned from your city, in<br />which you, Lord Christ, were martyred and buried? The<br />honor of your faith is extinguished; sinners are deprived of<br />comfort; how shall we be rid of sin? All Christendom<br />despairs. Lord God, have pity on this inexcusable scandal.<br />This ban will bring scorn on the Sepulchre and all Christendom;<br />disbelief will prosper for it.<br />I witnessed Christ’s own land left without visible defense.<br />When we should be reconquering it, no one was prepared to<br />defend it. The devil has succored this land because no one<br />prevented it. It was the devil’s cunning that stopped more of<br />it from being won back. God punish those who are guilty for<br />us Germans being the laughing stock of the Franks. And if<br />the Germans might win back the land today, the Franks hate<br />them so much they would much rather the heathen kept it.<br />If anyone comes sick and poor to Acre, he will readily get<br />a lodging there—one seven feet long, where he can do<br />penance for his sins.<br />Nothing was ever better against sin than a pure-hearted<br />pilgrimage across the sea. Even if you never glimpse the Holy<br />Sepulchre, your reward is none the less for that. Anyone who<br />with devout intent bears his cross over the sea (this is my<br />firm belief) shall be freed from sin. Acre roasts the body yet<br />brings comfort to the soul. I’m talking about a German Crusade song of the late twelfth century by Friedrich von Hausen and translated by Jeffrey R. Ashcroft. <br />Friedrich von Hausen is recorded in charters and chronicles as a ministerial knight with military, legal, and diplomatic functions in the service of Frederick I Barbarossa, Holy Roman Emperor, and his son King Henry VI between 1171 and 1188. He was killed in battle on the Third Crusade, in May 1190. Hausen wrote courtly love songs during the 1180s, and this song of crusading propaganda must date from 1188–1189.<br /><br />“M<span style="font-style:italic;">y heart and my body want to part company, though they<br />have been together for a long time now. Dar pana la urma cum se descurca noul album ?</span> <p><span style=""><span style=""> </span></span>Albumul nu este un nou Kill em’ All, Master of Puppets sau The Black Album, in schimb rezuma foarte bine ceea ce a facut Metallica in ultimii 20 ani de cariera. Piese precum “The Day That Never Comes” si “Cyanide”, foarte catchy cu referenuri ce imediat ti se lipesc de lobul frontal, nu ar fi nelalocul lor pe albume precum Load sau Relod. Parasind acesta falie ce desparte fanii Metallica, “The End of The Line” si “The Judas Kiss”, <span style=""> </span>vin sa multumeasca impatimitii de riffuri cu viteaza unui sprinter de performanta, dar piesa “Suicide & Redemption”, spre deosebire de predecesorii <span style=""> </span>“Orion” si “The Call of Ktulu”, treneaza prea multa tragand in jos ultima treime a albumului. Piesele defapt sunt foarte lungi avand in medie fiecare cam 7 minute. <span style="">E de inteles, de atata timp de cand nu au mai scos ceva relevant pentru lumea metalului, noua lor eferscenta creativa s-a tradus intr-un exces compozitional, ceea ce face ca piesele sa nu devina memorabile de la prima ascultare, dar ofera surprize la ascultari succesive.</span></p> <p><span style=""><span style=""> </span>Fanii vor fi bucurosi sa il regasesca pe Kirk Hammet indeletnicindu-se din nou cu solourile de chitara in stilul caracteristic, dupa decizia regretbila de pe St. Anger de a nu opera nici un solo pe albumul respectiv. Vocea lui James a ramas aceiasi, sau ma rog stilul de southern rock pe care l-a abordat de la Load incoace. Daca nu il mai tine vocea il inteleg, daca in schimb dace este o decizie voluntara nu pot decat sa o deplang.</span></p> <p><span style=""><span style=""> </span>Desi este un album decent din punct de vedere al compozitiei,riffurilor trashy si al variatiei pieselor sunt destul de nemultumit de productia acestui album. Sunetul galagios, abraziv, in your face, ce caracterizeaza un album metal bun Metallica(sau de metal in general) nu se regaseste in incercarea destul de amatoriala de a ne prezenta ideea unui sunet heavy, ce dupa standardele actuale au ramas mult in urma din acest punct de vedere.</span></p> <p><span style=""><span style=""> </span>Este noul album un comeback ? Este, dar sub forma unei atologii nedeclarate. Rock theatrics este cuvantul potrivit, si desi am vazut destule spectacole Maiden inregistrate, este o placere sa vezi energia trupei desfasurandu-se pe scena. Pe Bruce inca il duce vocea, si mai are si o placere de a tine minidiscursui, multe dintre ele amuzante. Restul trupei a performat la fel de impecabil. Trupa originara din Israel, ce combina elemente symphonice cu ritmuri si tonuri caracteristice orientului mijlociu, adaugand si ceva progressiv metal la instrumentatie, reuseste sa produca un vehicul sonic ce transporta ascultatorul intr-un loc si timp vechi de peste 2000 de ani. <b style=""><i style="">Exodus : Slaves for life</i></b> , este prima parte dintr-o trilogie de albume menite sa transpuna povestea biblica a exodului evreiesc pe muzica.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span><span style=""> </span>Slaves for life incepe cu perioada de sclavie a israelitilor in Egipt, trecand prin nasterea lui Moise pana la cele 10 molime si consecintele imediate ale episodului. Pe masura ce albumul demareaza, veti putea observa ca nu este unul tipc pentru genul progressiv. Defapt are mai mult o legatura tangentiala cu acest gen, putand avea o atractie la fel de mare pentru iubitorii de world music (printre care ma numar). Piesa ce da titlul albumului iti inspira un sentiment de grandios, dimensiune epica a acestei piese fiind foarte potrivita pentru a ilustra caracterul intregului album. Nu are ritmurile de tobe dominante si directoare, des intalnite in muzica metalica, dar in schimb tonurile grele de chitara sunt utilizate aici ca personaj dramatic. Piesele sunt in general lungi, si asemenea unei carvane de camile, nu se grabesc sa te aduca la destinatie. De exemplu, <b style=""><i style="">Birth of Delivernace</i></b>, incepe cu 3 minute de muzica orchestrala subtila, vocea perfomand maidegraba un dialog dramatic <span style=""> </span>decat ca o piesa muzicala. Dupa acesta totusi lucrurile acelereaza, si piesa devine mai ritmata pentru o vreme, pana cand iarasi iese din ritm si intra intr-un moment ce aduce mai mult cu interpretarea unui text decat cantat. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Nivelul de pregatire al muzicienilor este foarte mare. Memebrii trupei stiu cum sa faca instrumentele sa vorbeasca. Solul de chitara de pe <b style=""><i style="">Burning Bush</i></b> este un exemplu perfect la modului teatral de interpretare muzicala, de durata lunga, concentrat pe alegerea notelor potrivite si lasandu-le sa se transforme intr-un ecou in mintea ascultatatorului. Ten Plagues, spre sfarsitul albumului este poate cel mai intunecat si heavy song de pe album, si poate oferta ceea mai buna pe care o fac genului progressive. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Slaves for Life este mai mult o calatorie epica decat un album de metal. Vocile in limbile orientului(in ebraica in special), arnjamentele symphonice si imprumuturile progressive, faca ca albumul sa nu fie unul ce ce poate fi ascultat ca muzica de fundal. Pentru a-l putea aprecia la valoare lui maxima, necesita toata atentia ascultatorului. Recent si-au lansat albumul lor de debut “<b style=""><i style="">Death Prevails</i></b>” prin intermediul Nuclear Blast. <span style="" lang="FR">Piese nr.2 de pe album <b style=""><i style="">Gut candy</i></b> imi in combinatie cu varsta fragedea a trupetilor (cel mai tanar are 14 ani) mi-au atras antentia si entuziasmul. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="FR">Album se prezinta cu <span style=""> </span>un death metal in mid-tempo, dar din pacate se vede lipsa de experienta in ceea ce priveste compozitia pieselor. Prima piesa de album nu imi spune nimic, este un intro care l-a jumatatea drumului se razgandeste si se hotareste sa devina o piesa. <b style=""><i style="">Gut Candy</i></b> ramane ceea mai rasarita piese de pe album. <b style=""><i style="">Axe Splater</i></b> are poate ceea mai mare vairiatie dintre piese, avand si ceva melodic in ea.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="FR"><span style=""> </span>Nu ma intelegeti gresit, fiecare piesa are un riff de baza bun, dar nu e suficient. <span style=""> </span>Nu sunt prea multe ruperi de ritm, iar atunci cand piese vireaza intr-o directie sau alta, momentul este previzibil astfel incat repetitivitatea si monotonia se instaleaza foarte repede. Desi productia e buna pe album, in mod deliberat au ales sa ii dea un sound ceva mai fuzzy pt chitari pt a simula un old school felling. Tobele sunt subtirele, greul fiind dus de chitari si de voce, ultimele doua instrumente fiind bine aduse in fata la mixaj<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="FR">Apreciez vocea ce se potriveste foarte bine la pasul mid-tempo al pieselor, incercand cand un registru mai jos de grunts cand unul mai raspy de growls, este aproape placuta, cu toate ca avand in vedere genul abordat, alaturarea adjectivului ar putea parea ciudata. Subliniez inca odata faptul ca in general piesele au o colona vertebrala buna, sunt ritmate, dar aproape nici una nu este memorabila si sunt total lipsite de variatie.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="FR">Nu as spune ca este un efort esuat, ci unul teribil de mediocru in care se vede lipsa de experienta concertistica cat si de studio, dar o formatie care inca cred ca are potential. Nu neaparat ca mi-ar <span style=""> </span>fi reusit acest lucru pana acum, dar acum nici macar sa mimez nu as putea, pentru ca este vorba ( din nou, vezi Kreator) de e experienta profund personala. Metallica este prima formatie pe care am ascultat-o cu adevarat, una dintre formatiile that got me trough high school, primul tricou pe care l-am cumparat vreodata a fost cu Metallica ( care a asteptat cuminte 7 ani sa vada concertul), astfel incat concertul a fost punctul culminant unei asteptari latente, o experienta aproape religioasa.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Cu acest antet in fata, pelerinajul a inceput pe la ora 4.15 cand am ajuns la Stadion in uniforma de concert: blugii negrii de roaker de liceu, rosi in diverese locuri de vreme si concerte , care acum vin pe mine ca niste haine pre-natale si tricoul Metallica din dotare. Deja se ingramdise lumea la cele doua intrari din strada Dr. Lister, dar am avut norocul sa nu stam mai mult de 40 de min ca sa intram si sa ne indreptam spre gazon B, cu dorinta de ne afla cat mai aproape de scena.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Pana sa intre The Sword pe scena la 8.10 am stat intr-o ploaie, mai mult sau mai putin ciobaneasca, ce nu a parasit resedinta stadionului pe toata durata sederii mele in asteptare si la concert. Cert este ca in cateva ore tricoul si corpul meu au absorbit suficienta apa pentru a umple o piscina gonflabila. Revenind la texani cu nume de cuter, acestia au dat drumul la un mic recital nu mai lung de 30 de min, din care la voce nu prea s-a inteles prea multe. Un brand de southern metal unde puteai auzi influnte <i style="">Black Label Society</i> si <i style="">Corossion of Conformity</i>, some nice riffs here and there dar mai mult m-am miscat ca sa ma incalzesc if anything else.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Pe la 9 si un pic am auzit intro-ul <em><b style="">Ecstasy of Gold</b> </em><em><span style="font-style: normal;">si mi-am dat seama ca roolercoasterul avea sa inceapa. Kirck Hammet a cantat cu patima solul piesei, si nu am de ce sa ii reprosez faptul ca nu a avut un solo proprius zis intre piese pentru, ca setlistul ingrosat de melodii vechi , contineau multe momente de virtuozitate. James si-a pastrat carisma incontestabila de frontman, cumunicand pe cat se poate cu publicul. Lars s-a descurcat bine la tobe, parca totusi ceva mai obosit. Robert, extrem de energic, demonstrandu-si calitatile de tarantula, iar momentul piruetei cu tot cu bas, m-a facut sa cas ochii si gura foarte larg. Nu existat nic un moment de flasitate sau artificial, totul fiind organic. Se vedea faptul ca in ciuda ploii care ii uda si pe ei, se simteau foarte bine, si era din ce in ce mai impresionati de public : « Mam you guys sing really good », « I cant bealive it took us 9 years to come back to this place! »<o:p></o:p></span></em></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>L-am auzit pe James incepandu-si reverberatia cu “</span></em><em><span style="" lang="RO">I’m your dream</span></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">...” si eram deja in metal nirvana. Pavilionul este o ramasita a capitalei culturale europene, fiind construit pentru diferitele activitati de gazduire ce s-au aflat in desfasuratorul de evenimente al anului clutural. Personal mi se pare o locatie mai propice pentru desfasurarea concertelor decat piata mare a Sibiilui. In primul rand ca este ferit de soare, si daca tin eu bine minte beneficiaza si de ceva aer conditionat. De vreme ce deja m-am bronzat „cu maneci” la festivalul precedent, asa ca am binevenit noul context concertistic. Berea 3 lei ( pe masura remuneratiei personale), indeajuns cat sa ma simnt bine, iar sandwiciurile iarsi faorte bune ca si la precedentul festival. Bude decente, si multe puncte de achizitionat bere: fara cozi. Locatie mai este buna, si pentru acustica ei, sau mai bien zis sunt mai obinuiti sunetistii nostri cu spatii inchise. Cei 70.000 de wati nu s-au pierdut in cort, majoritatea trupelor beneficiind de un sunet foarte bun. Sa trecem la trupe:<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Nu ne-am grabit sa ajugem la prima trupa, pe numele ei de familie Nexus, care oricum nu a binevoit sa isi faca aparitia din cate am inteles. In schimb am ajuns putin dupa jumatatea recitalului celor de la Avatar. Nu mai tin minte cand a fost ultima oara cand i-am vazut in orice caz, baietii se indeletnicesc cu un death metal saltaret si suparat. Mai sa nu ii recunosc, nu datorita muzicii ci dataorita faptului ca solistul a renuntat la dreadurile sale (damn my visual memory). Sunet decent, am prins vreo 3 piese, dar nu as putea sa va spun cum se numeau. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Next up, Negura Bunget. Desi nu sunt un fan, de la concert la concert parca muzica lor incepe sa prind din ce in ce mai mult. Isi pastreaz sunetul raw black metal (dar pe care eu nu il gust), ce ii multumeste pe conservatorii genului, dar in acelasi timp adauga si elemente atmospherice cu o culoare locala. Au inceputul cu <b style=""><i style="">Hora Soarelui</i></b>, am dat din cap pe piesa instrumentala <b style=""><i style="">Norilor</i></b>, si au terminat cu <b style=""><i style="">Tesarul de lumini</i></b>. Un setlist mai scurt decat sunt obisnuiti, dar programul trebuia respectat, lucuru pe care il apreciez.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">A urmat Leave's Eyes</span></strong>, trupa lui Liv Kristine, pe care poat unii dintre voi o mai tin minte din perioada ei Theatre of Tragedy. Vocea ei nu m-a inpresionat deloc, total lispisita de orce fel de forta. Mi se va spune ca stilul ei nu se preteaza la forta. Bine, bine dar nici sa ma ia somnul. Instrumental un sunet bunicel, dar fara prea multe surprize, majoritatea pieselor fiind destul de predicitibile chiar si pentru cineva care nu este familiarizat cu muzica lor. Dealungul recitalului din cand in cand, a fost acompanaiata de sotul ei, Alex Kurll, fiind surprins sa aflu care este originar din Sibiu. Din setlistul lor parca am restinut un <b style=""><i style="">New Found Land,For Emilly</i></b>(who the fuck is Emilly?) si piesa de inchidere <b style=""><i style="">Elegy</i></b>. Publicul, puternic feminin, a gusutat muzica lor. Nu vreau sa spun ca nu a fost o atmosfera placuta, dar totusi mie mi s-a parut in recital destul de banal.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Dupa ei au urcat pe scena Atrocity. Spre supriza mea, aceiasi formatie, numai ca acum Alex Krull era vocea principala iar Liv Kristine facea din cand in cand backing vocals. Setlistul <span style=""> </span>s-a compus in exclusivitate din coverurile ce alcatuiesc cele doua albume Werk: <b style=""><i style="">The Great Commandment, Smalltown Boy , Don’t You Forget about Me, People Are People, Tainted Love</i></b> (aici alex a incercat sa faca rost de niste danasatoare din public, dar nu prea i-a iesit<b style=""><i style="">), Fade to Grey, Relax, Send Me an Angel, Rage Hard, Wild Boys, The Sun Always Shines on TV </i></b>si<b style=""><i style=""> Shout</i></b>. O comunicare buna cu publocul, si sunet bun , dar sunt dezamagit ca nu au cantat nimic din creatiile propiile, mi-ar fi placut sa cant alaturi de ei Calling the rain...<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Ehhh, si dupa doua trupe „gotice” au urmat un headliner power metal. Gamma Ray nu au pierdut vremea si au dar drumul la <b style=""><i style="">Into the Storm</i></b> urmate de <b style=""><i style="">Heaven Can Wait</i></b>, <b style=""><i style="">I Want Out</i></b> (coverul Hellowen m-a uns la sulfetel) , <b style=""><i style="">New World Order</i></b>, <b style=""><i style="">Fight</i></b>(aici sitiam si eu versurile), <b style=""><i style="">Empress</i></b>, <b style=""><i style="">The Silence</i></b>. Kai Hansen desi deja battraior, este inca un frontman foarte bun pentry happy power metalul pe care il abordeaza ei. Publicul foarte receptiv, la muzica lor, chiar si grupul meu, care in ciuda faptului ca nu era foarte familiarizat cu muzica lor, aveam in schimb de partea noastra „cateva beri”. La <b style=""><i style="">Heavy Metal Universe</i></b> a venit randul publicului sa-si exerseze corzile vocale, Hansen impartindu-l in trei: dreapta scenei pentru „heavy”, stanga pentru „metal” si centrul pentru „universe”, si chiar a mers. Festivalul a fost organizat de Casa de Cultura a municipiului Sibiu cu promisiuna aparitiei trupelor Testament, Kreator, Doro si Hellowen plus asigurarea ca sunetul va fi oferit de o echipa profesionista din Germania.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Ajunsi in Sibiu pe la 11.45 ne-am rezolvat problemele urgente: am luat bilete de intoarcere cu trenul, si am facut rost de o harta a Sibiului dupa care am purces sepre a cauta un loc de cazare, cu avertizarea ca situatia nu era prea roz, majoritatea locurilor fiind ocupate.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Ce ne-a speriat, in sensul bun al cuvantului, a fost curatenia si linistea orasului, termnenul de comparatie fiind Bucurestii. Nu are nimic din tensiuna care te apasa in capitala, nu mai mergi cu capul aplecat, si privind inainte si in jur observi frumusetea orasului. Era atat de liniste ca la inceput eu si cu Robert vorbeam in soapta pe strada! Sau poate ca in lipsa zumzaitului bucurestean aici, defapt vorbeam normal...<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Dupa ce am ajuns in piata mare si am intrebat la un hostel si o pesiune de locuri, ne-am convins ca avertismentul era real. Asa ca in urma sftului pe care l-am primit de la o domnisoara de la centrul de informare de la gara, am mers la centrul de informare turistica din Piata Mare. Domnul de acolo foarte amabil, nunumai ca ne-a sugerat un hostel, dar a si sunat sa intrebe daca au 2 locuri. Spre fericirea noastra fix 2 locuri aveau ce le-am ocupat dupa ce am colindat putin orasul. Gazdele foarte primitoare si deschise, ceai si cafea la liber. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Foarte repede am facut cunostinta cu Flaviu si Cristi din Cluj, ce in foarte scurt timp au devenit tovarasii nostrii intrale metalelor la festival. <span style=""> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><o:p> </o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Ziua 1</span><o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><o:p> </o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Festivalul s-a tinut pe Stadionul municipal din Sibiu, care dupa toate aparentele nu prea mai este folosit pentru cinestie ce activitati posibile. In orice caz, aflat usor spre marginea orasului, este o locatie genereoasa pentru festivaluri de profil. Ajunsi pe la 4.15, nu prea era multa lume, cei putini care ajunsesera stateau in fata scenei la umbra, si dupa ce ne-am aprovizionat cu bere ne-am alaturat lor, iar la scurt timp au aparut prietenii din Cluj. Asa ca ne-am asezat frumos pe iarba, ascultand muzica blues-ul din fundal ce emana din boxe, gandindu-ma cu pohta la o vrajitoare verde.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Pe la 4.45 au urcat pe scena si prima trupa, sibienii de la Betrayer. Au dat drumul la cateva piese ce se apropiau de stilul deathcore, dar fiind cond mai mult death cand mai mult hardcore. In fata unui public firav, au cantat cu suflet si au avut parte de un sunet decent. Ritmuri sanatoase, cu un tobar influentat clar de Igor Cavalera, ultima piesa care defpat<span style=""> </span>a fost un medley din mai multe piese Sepultura, confirmandu-mi suspiciunile. Mult succes in continuare baieti.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Dupa o pauza si un beer refil, au urmat pe scena Benedictum. Trupa originara din San Diego, California, imi era cunoscuta print intermediul ultimului lor album de studio, Seasons of Tragedy si ii asteptam cu interes evolutia lor, mai ales pentru ca stiam ca la voce se afla o solista, lucru destul de rar pe scena homo-erotica a heavy metalului. Si tocmai asta canta ei, fie un hevy metal cu pasaje trashy, fie un trash metal puternic melodicizat. In orice caz sunetul nu prea i-a ajutat, asa ca multi erau nedumeriti si nu stiau ce sa inteleaga din muzica lor, dar in orice caz apreciau prezenta generoasei mulatre pe scena. Dar cum spuneam, probleme de sunet, pe prima piesa chitara fiind muta, probleme totusi rezolvate cu chiu cu vai pe parcurs. Am recunoscut, din ce au cantat, <b style=""><i style="">Shell Shock</i></b>, <b style=""><i style="">Bare Bones</i></b>, </span><b style=""><i style="">Seasons of Tragedy </i></b><i style="">si</i><b style=""><i style=""> Legacy</i></b>. <span style="" lang="RO">Au incheiat reprezentatia</span><span lang="RO"> </span><span style="" lang="RO">cu un cover Accept, <b style=""><i style="">Balls to the Wall</i></b>. Nu a fost rau dar nu am fost atata de impresionat pe cat ma asteptam sa fiu. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Another few beers later, a urmat deja binecunosuta trupa clujeana Altar. Baietii in frunte cu micutul si energicul Andy Ghost, au facut ce stiu ei mai bine, o muzica hardcore fara prea multa variatie, dar numai buna ca sa ii dezamorteasca pe cei prezenti in fata scenei. Din setlist au facut parte <b style=""><i style="">Prison of Death, Stop the Silence, Nascut învingator, Protest, Singur împotriva tuturor, La noi </i></b>si<b style=""><i style=""> Atitudine</i></b><i style="">. </i>Au canat bien fara mari problem de sunet, atat de bine ( sau berile deja consumate or fi fost si mai bune) incat m-am incumetat si eu la pogo, lucru pe care cred ca nu l-am mai facut de vreo 6 ani.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Inainte sa trec la principalele atractii muzicale ale serii, cateva cuvinte despre organizare si prezenta. S-a vazut clar ca este prima editie si probabil pentru multi dintre organizatori, prima experienta de acest fel. Doar 3 standuri de bere, si bauturi racoritoare, deja inainte de ultimele 2 formatii stafu-ul fiind depasit de cerere. Dar problema cea mai grava era ca existau doar 4 toalete eco, pentru toti cei 2000 si ceva de persone care au fost in prima zi, astfel incat cozile la bauturi si la buda au debit cele mai puternice locuri de socializare. Ca sa dau masura grabei in care s-a facut organizarea pentru prima zi, din ce am stat de vorba cu niste tineri de la standuri, multi dintr ei aflasera doar cu o zi inainte de festival, si in plus erau voluntari. Sa revenim totusi la muzica.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Testament sunt o trupa legendara a trash metalului american condusi de solistul Cuck Billy. Au inceput in forta cu <b style=""><i style="">Over the Wall, Into the Pit </i></b>si<b style=""><i style=""> Apocalyptic City</i></b> publicul intrand in frenezie, subsemnatul de asemenea, lucru ce nu a trecut neobservat de Cuck Billy, vizibil impresionat de cei prezenti, care desi erau poate numai mia mult de 1500, au fost deosebit de energici, si pana la urma Cristi avea dreptate, nu conteaza daca sunt putini ci daca sunt dedicati. Au dat drumul apoi la <b style="">La Practice What You Preach </b>si <b style="">New World Order</b><i style="">,</i> si de aici au inceput problemele de sunet, cel putin pe partea stnga aproape de scena unde ma aflam, sunetul a fost cu interuperi si de multe ori chitarile au cedat. Ii puteam vedea pe mebrii formatiei facand semne subtile sunetislor,cei stafull lor incercand sa schimbe cu disperare chitarile, in fine pacat de unele piese care meritau un sunet mai bun. A <span style=""> </span>urmat<i style=""> <b style="">Electric Crown</b></i>, apoi prima piesa de promovare a recent lansatului album – <b style=""><i style="">More than Meets the Eye</i></b><i style="">.</i> Pe piesa <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Low</span> m-am enervat din cauza siunetului si am fost sa fac rost de alta bere, intorcandu-ma la moment de relaxare cu <b style=""><i style="">Trail of tears</i></b>. Am mai retinut <b style=""><i style="">Souls of Black</i></b><i style=""> </i>ce a sunat brutal la bass, urmate de <b style=""><i style="">T</i></b></span><em><b style=""><span style="font-style: normal;">he Preacher, D.N.R</span></b>. </em><em><b style=""><span style="font-style: normal;">(Do Not Resuscitate), </span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;">piesa pe care am rupt ceafa</span>, </em><em><b style=""><span style="font-style: normal;">Three Days </span></b></em><b style=""><i style="">si </i><em><span style="font-style: normal;">Alone in the Dark</span></em></b><em> </em><em><span style="font-style: normal;">. Sunetul in cele din urma solutionat showul s-a incheiat cu </span><b style="">Disciples of the Watch</b>. <o:p></o:p></em></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><em><span style=""> </span></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">A urmat apoi ceea ce asteptasem toata ziua, zeii trash metalului geramn, Kreator. Am avut inspiratia sa propun sa ne mutam in partea drepata a scenei pentru a evita mosh pit-ul, si a fost se pare o decizie inspirata pentru ca undeva in timpul concertului se pare ca boxele din partea stanga au cedat partial. Un stageset interesant, cu tobeele tronand undeva sus, iar in fundal proectii cu imagini din trecutul formatiei s.a.m.d.<o:p></o:p></span></em></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Nici nu mi-am dat bine seama ca au inceput cu </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Violent Revolution</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">, imi venea sa plang de fericire, dar nu ar fi foat prea metal din partea mea, asa cam optat pentru headbaging in schimb. Mille Petroza, este un izvor nesecat de energie, si un manipulator excelent al publicului. „Hello people from ZIBIU”! fiecare pauza avand cate un moment in care comunica cu pblicul. A urmat </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Enemy of Good, Riot of Viloence</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">. Deja mi s-a rupt filmul pe </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Phobia</span></b></em><em><b style=""><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO"> </span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">, nu mai aveam ce se la cer, asta pana m-au surprins cu </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">People of the lie</span></b><span style="" lang="RO">!!!</span></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">. Deja mi se amesteca in minte amintirile, nu mai eram treaz, ma imbataseam cu muzica lor(si cetva beri in plus). </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Imposible Brutalitity</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">, a sunat iarasi foarte bine cat si </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Tormentor</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">. Cand Mile a intreba : „People of Zibiu are you ready to kill?” , raspunsul a venit asurzitor "Yeahhhhhh!!!!" „ Are you ready to kill eachother?” respuns din nou afirmativ „ <span style="font-weight: bold;">Pleasure.. to... Killlll!</span>”, Dementa! Nu mai spun ca se pare ca stilul nostru caractersic, ca sa nu spun total haotic de moshing, l-a impresionant, „I<span style="font-style: italic;"> want to see a fuking mosh pit romanian style</span>” si „Destroy this fuking place”. Cei aproape 2000 de metalisti au facut tot posibilul, iar daca ar fi fost stadionul plin, cred ca i s-ar fi indeplinit dorinta. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Extreme Agresion</span> a facut parte din playlist, cat si absolut savurosul </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Betrayer </span></b></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">.</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO"> Supriza a fost </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Europe after de Rain</span></b></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">, am fost total nepregatit pentru ea, dar binevenita in setlist din punctul meu de vedere. <o:p></o:p></span></em></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO"><span style=""> </span>Au avut si bis, unde au cantat </span></em><em><b style=""><span style="" lang="RO">Flag of Hate</span></b></em><em><span style="" lang="RO">, </span></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">si nu stiu ce as putea sa adaug, pentru ca orice piesa ar fi cantat din discografia lor,</span></em><em><span style="" lang="RO"> </span></em><em><span style="font-style: normal;" lang="RO">m-ar fi multmit. Nu prea am resursele sa va pot descrie concertul Kreator la adevarata sa, pentru ca toata experienta este una profund personala, ce va ramane cu mine foarte mult timp. Anul acesta nu am mai repetat experienta voluntariatului, dar i-am privit cu compasiune pe cei care lucrau la Best, faptul ca oferta de anul acesta a cuprins o zi specializata contribuind la fericita decizie de a fi doar un umil platitor de bilet.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Cu toate eforturile depuse, nu am reusit sa prind prima trupa, Wisdom. O trupa din Ungaria, dar despre care nu stiu mai nimic, asa ca nu pot sa compar o parere personala cu relatarile despre prestatia lor slaba pe care le am auzit de la diversi. Ajuns pe la 5 si ceva, cumva in spatele scenei, imediat mi-am dat seama ca pe aceasta evolua Thunderstorm. Banuiam, ca nu o sa se auda bine trupa pentru ca tobele deja imi sunau ca niste galeti si nu altceva, din spate. Am lasat masina pe langa complex si am plecat in cautarea intrarii.<br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Pana sa ajungem in incinta, ei deja terminasera cu piesa <i style="font-weight: bold;">Cerul in flacari</i>. Caldura mare si pozitia lor in program le-a adus bucurestenilor de la Thunderstorm in jur de 300 de oameni, destul de energici avand in vedere conditiile atmosferice. Am mai prins cam doua, trei piese, printre care <i style="font-weight: bold;">Un Ultim Drum</i> si un cover AC/DC dupa <span style="font-weight: bold;">Highway to hell</span>, pe care l-au masacrat. Nu mi-a parut deloc rau ca nu am prins recitalul cap coada, deoarece nu au avut un sunet tocmai bun, chitarile nu prea s-au auzit, lucru ce i-a dezavantajat, avand in vedere ca multe din pasajele lor imprumta puternic de la Iron Maiden, toata melodicitatea acestei influente, pierdandu-se in bubuitul groslan al „galetilor” in care batea tobosarul si sunetul basistului care de fiecare data are impresia ca el canta defapt in Iron Maiden.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">In pauza, am ingrosat randurile celor care se stransera sub cort la umbra pentru mancarica si racoritoare. Am ras si am injurat jetoanele, mi-am amintit de berile la pahar de 0.33, denumite de mine cu afectiune, anul trecut, „the worlds smallest beer”. Am baut cola si ne-am copilarit mancand popcorn.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">M-a bucurat faptul ca nu au fost intarzieri cu programul, formatiile intrand pe scena atunci cand trebuia sa intre, asa ca pe la 18.45 Ross de Boss si-am facut aparitia pe scena. Ross este co-fondator si fost chitarist Manowar. Trupa si muzica cu care s-a prezentat la festival nu fiind foarte diferita ca prestatie muzicala de Manowar, pana si basistul semana foarte mult la stilul de cantat cu Joey DeMaio. Solistul, mititel cum era el, avea o voce puternica si numai buna pentru power metal batranesc. Energic, urcandu-se pe monitoare si gesticuland, se putea vedea clar ca s-a scolit la „The Bruce Dikinson School of Rock Theatrics”. Pe langa compozitii proprii au cantat si piese din perioada in care Ross a activat la Manowar, <i style=""><span style="font-weight: bold;">Thor the Powerhead</span>, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Gloves of Metal</span>, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Hail and Kill</span> si <span style="font-weight: bold;">Fighting the World</span></i>. Un sunet decent, nu iesit din comun, cu o prestatie curata din parte ansambului vocal/instrumental Ross the Boss.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">A urmat o formatie care doream sa o vad de foarte mult timp, si aici trebuie sa recunosc cu toata sinceritatea ca sunt un mai mare fan Primal Fear decat Judas Priest, asa ca am patruns si mai puternic printre randuri spre centru dreapta pentru o priveliste cat mai buna. Au inceput asa cum ma asteptam cu piesa de deschidere de pe <i style="">New Religion</i>, <i style="font-weight: bold;">Sing of Fear</i>. Nu am inteles de ce Klaus Sperling<span style=""> </span>nu a cantat pasajul introductiv de tobe si a preferat o inregistrare, pt ca este unul facut special pentru a crea atmosfera, pentru ca apoi sa fi lovit locmativa muzicala Primal Fear. Ralf Scheepers, este personificarea a tot ce inseamna heavy-metal, cu o statura si o constitutie impresionanata, are una dintre cele mai bune voci din gen din punctul meu de vedere. Fara sa foloseasca vreun efect deosebit pe microfon Ralfph ne-a aratat cate note exista pe portativa, pastrand registrul superior, jucandu-se cu octavele printre rifurile generoase ale colegilor de formatie. Pacat ca au fost probleme de sunet la prima piesa, care au tot reaparut dealungul reprezentatiei. Au cantat printre altele <i style="font-weight: bold;">Batallions of Hate, Seven Seals, Nuclear Fire, Final Embrace</i>. Pe <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Fighting the Darkness</span> si pe <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Face the Emptiness</span>, mi-am testat vocea si am inceput aproape de unul singur un nice sing along cu formatia. M-am amuzat pentru ca intamplarea a facut ca am nimerit probabil langa singura persoana care era mai mare fan decat mine. Stia absolut toate versurile de la Primal Fear, asa ca daca la vreo piesa aveam vreo indoiala nu trebuia decat sa trag cu urechea. Am avut parte si de un duel intre cei doi chitaristi pe care l-am apreciat pret de cateva minute bune, pacat totusi ca sunetul nici de aceasta data nu a tinut cu ei. Ralph a perforat atmosfera cu vocea sa si a comunicat puternic cu publicul, raspunsul din partea celor 7000-8000 de oameni prezenti find pozitiv. Nu a lipsit <i style="font-weight: bold;">Metal Lives Forever</i> din setlist, dar in schimb a lipsit bis-ul. Rezumand mica mea adulatie pentru acesta formatie, pot sa trec deja acesta prestatie ca una dintre punctele maxime ale experientei mele concertistice din acest an, but’s that’s he fanboy within me talking.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Am parsit proximitatea scenei pentru a ne racorii. Dupa cateva telefoane si nervi in legatura cu plecarea din dimineata urmatoare spre Sibiu, ne-am indreptat spre scena, dar de data asta nu ne-am mai apropiat asa de mult, pastrand o distanta apreciabila, suficienta pentru mine pentru a vedea ce se intampla pe scena, dar necesitand din cand in cand si ajutorul ecranelor, si bine am facut, o sa va spun si de ce putin mai incolo.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Cum speram ca o sa se intample, Judas Priest a venit cu stagesetul de turneu, reprezentand conceptul ultimului album, <span style="font-style: italic;">Nostradamus</span>, o aranjare generoasa a scenei care permitea o mare libertate de miscare. Dupa un intro-ul <i style="font-weight: bold;">Dawn of Creation</i> au dat drumul la prima piesa, <i style="font-weight: bold;">The Propechy</i>, ce are un refren absolut contagios, si desi nu suna cine stie ce pe album, live suna excelent. Rob Halford a rasarit undeva in stanga sus, intr-un cloak argintu sprijinindu-se intr-un „toiag”, jucand rolul profetului. Aici vroiam sa ajung, Judas sunt intr-un turneu de promovare al ultimului album, trebuie mentionat, unul conceptul, si eram foarte curios sa vad cum imbina minimul de piese de pe ultiumul album ce se canta in mod normal intr-un turneu de promovare. Rob Halford este cel insarcinat cu transmiterea conceptului ultimului album, jucand rolul unui batran profet, rol pe care il indeplineste foarte bine. Infara de „Prophecy” de pe ultimul album, au mai cantat doar <i style="font-weight: bold;">Death</i> din cate tin minte, o piesa care live suna, din nou, bestial. Va puteti imagina Judas Priest cantand doom metal? Tocmai acolo se incadreaza piesa, folosind stage-ul pt a disparea si reaparea de niciunde pe un tron. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">De vreme ce au cant doar 2 piese propriuzise de pe ultimul album, nu pot sa spun ca exista un echilibru intre conceptul cu care s-au prezentat la concert si piesele mai vechi, dar totusi acest amestec functioneaza, si chiar foarte bine din punctul meu de vedere oferind mult mai multa variatie in cadrul spectacolului.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Spuneam ca am facut foarte bine ca am ramas mai in spate. Sacrificad o parte din priveliste, am avut parte de un sunet foarte bun aproape impecabil, pe masura celor de la Judas Priest. Desi cu cat te indeparteai de scena publicul era mai pasiv, si mai pestrit, sunetul era si mai bun.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="" lang="RO">Au cant piese binecunoscute din discografia lor: <i style=""><span style="font-weight: bold;">Breaking the Law, Painkiller, Sinner, Electric Eye, Hammer and Anvil </span>sau <span style="font-weight: bold;">Hell Bent for Leather</span></i>. La acesta din urma Halford a aprut pe scene pe un Harley. Nu stiu daca avea microfon montat pe motor sau doar cel din mana lui Halfrod, dar numai imaginati-va turatia motrului amplificata de boxele de la concert, o adevarta arta poetica a heavy-metalului. </span><span style="" lang="FR">Downing si Tipton au fost intr-o forma de zile mari executand solourile impecabil. And finally at the bottom the mouth of the Leviathan opens up to take in the fallen angels, who are now distorted figures of their former self. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">We can see a similar scene in a manuscript currently housed at </span><st1:place><st1:placename><span class="commentaire">Fitzwilliam</span></st1:placename><span class="commentaire"> </span><st1:placetype><span class="commentaire">Museum</span></st1:placetype></st1:place><span class="commentaire">: MS 330, I. In one of seven full-page extant miniatures from a lost psalter associated with William de Brailes, an artist working in </span><st1:city><st1:place><span class="commentaire">Oxford</span></st1:place></st1:city><span class="commentaire">, 1238-52, Christ is seated in glory, with one hand raised in blessing and another holding a book, surrounded by ranks of angels. From the lowest part of the circle of heaven rebel angels are seen tumbling down into an open hell mouth, transforming into devils as they go, assisted by two devils standing at each side. The six roundels in the frame depict seated figures of virtues and vices: Charity, Humility, Patience, Avarice, Pride and Anger. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">The second document is another miniature from “Le </span>pèlerinage de l'âme” with was written by Guillaume de digulleville who was a monk in the Cistercian abbey of Chalis.The manuscript comes form Rennes, France dated form the XV century. <span class="commentaire">Le </span>pèlerinage de l'âme is a vision of hell, purgatory, and heaven. </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">This particular scene<a style="" href="http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=1484232637917456284&postID=1336722654411359851#_ftn2" name="_ftnref2" title=""><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style=""><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style=";font-family:";font-size:12;" >[2]</span></span><!--[endif]--></span></span></a> is that of the punishment of niggards. The author of the vision is shown in the low left guided by an angel showing him what happens to those who accumulate whealth. Tow demons, pitch black, are tormenting the group of people. Flames surround the dammed that are helpless to do anything. So what we have here is a specific group of sinners, and I might note that from a historic point of view it one of the oldest categories of sinner witch are the direct target for hellish punishments. Why? Because from the church’s point of view the accumulation of wealth was a mortal sin, and any mortal sin was deemed irremediable beyond salvation and as a consequence went directly to hell. <o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">The third document is a detail form a fresco done by Andrea di Cione. This was the nickname of a family of artists who lived and worked in the late Gothic period; the best known member of the family, Andrea di Cione Arcangelo (Orcagna in the local dialect) worked in Florence between 1343 (the year in which we can find him enrolled in the Guild of physicians and chemists) and 1368 as a painter, sculptor and architect. This particular scene was done somewhere between 1345 and 1357 and can be viewed at Sanata Croce in <st1:city><st1:place>Florence</st1:place></st1:city>.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">Yet again we have a scene depicting hell. We are presented with a rocky landscape. Here and there flames burst out of the gaping holes in the ground. In the upper register we can see to men fighting. This represents the sin of anger, on their rights demons are hacking away the limbs of other damed.On the left there is another couple possibly representing adultery. The middle register is deteriorated, but we can see a demon holding a flag witch reads “Avaritia”.On his left we can clearly see a group of clerical figures in a burning hole. Next to them is a demon with has gathered their bogs of money. On the far right of the fresco there is a monstrous three headed figure, eating people and holding in his hands other who will share the same fats. The demon is individualized as we can read that his name is Givoa.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">The forth document comes form the “Hortus deliciarum” (<st1:place><st1:placetype>Garden</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Delights</st1:placename></st1:place>) witch is a medieval manuscript compiled by Herrad of Landsberg at the Hohenburg Abbey in <st1:state><st1:place>Alsace</st1:place></st1:state>. It was an illuminated encyclopedia, begun in 1167 as a pedagogical tool for young novices at the convent. It was finished in 1185, and was one of the most celebrated illuminated manuscripts of the period. The majority of the work is in Latin, with glosses in German.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">Hell here is represented on four levels. The edges want to give the sensation of earth, and all over we can se people burning in small holes. Fire is an overwhelming reality. In the first register from above, we see different types of sinners subjected to different types of punishments. The first group of sinners on the left is probably one who is guilty of the sin of lust and carnal pleasures as snakes are attacking their sexes. On the right demons are tormenting a group of people hanging upside down, The demons are a shade of ashy gray, as would some would naturally be if he lived in the presence of ever burning fire and all have sadistic smiles on their faces. The pale color of the humans makes them look all the more vulnerable by contrast. Second register we se other punishments, as with the group on the right witch is forced to eat disgusting things such as toads. Third register we can see tow big cauldrons and fire heating them up. Demons are pushing in the damned. One is possibly for heretics, as it is suggested by their pointy hats, <span style=""> </span>the other one is clearly for soldiers, as suggested by their chains mails and helmets and also the latin enscription witch reads “armati milites”.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">On the last register at the bottom, we can see a on the far left a cleric figure who is taken by the hand by a demon. The human figure is represented on the frame witch suggests he is not a damned but a spectator (another vision perhaps). Next to them we can see someone punished for the sin of avarice as he is forced to eat vast quantities of gold coins. And on the right we can see Lucifer as the writing above his head suggests. He is fairly bigger than the other demons, tow beast heads coming out form his side are eating humans , and he is enthroned on the severed heads of the damned. We can not that he is chained.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">The last document is a miniature for Dante Alighieri Divine Comedy. Inferno and Purgatorio (ff. 1-128), and all historiated initials illuminated by Priamo della Quercia between 1442 and 1450 Paradiso (ff. 129-190v) illuminated by Giovanni di Paolo c. 1450 and it comes from <st1:country-region><st1:place>Italy</st1:place></st1:country-region>, <st1:place>N. Tuscany</st1:place>, <st1:city><st1:place>Siena</st1:place></st1:city>.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;">The scene is concentrated around the demons and the damned. The demons are hairy beasts. The damned are in tow fire pits. In the first pit we can clearly see that they are clerical figures as suggested by their haircuts. One demon is chocking on of the damned while other have forks with witch to stab at them. On the right side we se some of them trying to resist but all in vain.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">What do these documents reveal to us about medieval mentalities in regarding representations of hell. We must bare in mind that hell a part of the afterlife and so an important aspect of death. But when trying to grasp the problem of hell medieval thought has done a balancing act between representing<span style=""> </span>it as a spiritual forma punishment, moust common to the theological thinking, and hell as a actual physical place for corporeal torments and punishments. Form this point of view I will try to answer three questions; where, who and why?<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">Where do the dead go after death? One most unfortunate possibility is hell. But where is hell?<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">From the first document we get our first clue. Hell is “south of heaven”. The angels are <i style="">falling,</i> and there is no need to stress their derection. And since Heaven lays in the skies, Hell b its opposing nature can only be at the other end.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">We can get more sense out of this from Documents. 3, 4 and 5.Hell is a rocky place. The obvious suggestion is that hell somewhere underground. We can make a note that although there is no clear location, hell is a physical place.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">By what other traits can hell be identified? As we can clearly see in Documents 2, 3 and 4 fire is an ever present constant in the picture.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">Who resides in hell? Document 1 sets the tone. Hell is the place for the dmaned. It is first of all for the fallen angels, who have become demons. They no longer retain any attributes of their forms selfs, they are represented as monstrous creatures more beasts than anything most of the time. They are there because they have done wrong in the eyes of God. The other residents of hell al the humans that have sinned in the face God<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;"><span class="commentaire">The next question is why? We have already partially answered the question: because they have sinned. The other part of the answer is, to be punished. They are there because of capital sins. A capital sins is a direct and conscientious outrage against the nature of God. Such a sin for example the gathering of wealth. As we can see in doc. 2 and 3. Their punishment is according to the sin they have done, and the most detail description can be found in doc.4, were the specialized functions of hell are vividly depicted. Those who are administering the punishments are the demons as we can se in doc 2,3,4 and 5,they are in charge of the well workings of hell. All of the punishments are physical. first of all by fire and then more specific, by sin as is the case with documents 3 and 4. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: "";">From this we can draw the conclusion that hell as a place of the after life in iconographical representation the popular view is dominant, and is so hell is an actual place where corporal punishments take place. There is a very simple logic to it. On one side the very nature of graphic representations imposes such a direction and second of all, they are more powerful this why and the Church knew very well that it was a powerful deterrent form anti-social acts . And the iconographic implications of secular views must be also noted, as it is with Dante’s Inferno.
